Product Selection
In order to provide a modern learning Resource Area for students to use on a 24 hour basis the area had to include:
- Relaxing areas
- Study Areas
- Lecture Booths
- Meeting Rooms
- Formal and Informal Study Areas
- Bespoke Study Courasels
The furniture design had to complement the interior features of the scheme. This included structural feature columns that changed colours via LED lighting.
Products were selected from various manufacturers to produce a stunning high quality environment and all products were specifically selected for their longevity and usability in a heavy use environment.
Bean bags were incorporated into rest and group areas
Hytch Mylius Tri sided sofas were used to for a touchdown group area
Vitra Circular tables were specifically manufactured to fit within the bespoke mobile circular study carousels.
Desking was selected to continue the design brief and supplied in White from the Vitra range
Southerns adopted a partnered approach with the University project team and assisted in the development of the scheme for over 12 months prior to completion.
The installation was completed on time and within budget for the official opening in September 2009
