Southerns Office Interiors Ltd retails, delivers and installs ranges of office furniture, seating and steel storage in conjunction with our chosen manufacturing partners.

We are committed to the environment and will conduct our activities responsibly in the procurement and provision of office furniture in accordance with our ISO 14001 and FISP Accreditations.

We believe that one company can actually make a difference and our actions do have an effect on all of us. It is with this philosophy that we have supplied many thousands of ecologically sound products to as many customers and have managed to remain a leader in today's competitive market place.

It is our policy to propose products from manufacturers that have a robust and well established environmental approach to sustainable purchasing. We confirm the following Items as part of our company ethos:

  • Our environmental management system, incorporating BS EN ISO 9001 and BS EN ISO 14001 Regulations, is mandatory to all employees.
  • Our policies are fully communicated to all levels of the company, supported by management and are achievable. When implemented they become an integral part of our daily business life and continue to be actively measured, monitored and constantly targeted for improvement.
  • Southern Office Interiors are one of the first suppliers to be awarded the Furniture Industry Sustainability Programme (FISP), by FIRA by demonstrating sustainability as a strategic business initiative.

Our policy is constantly being reviewed to ensure that it appropriately reflects the company's progress in meeting these stated aims.



Communication

Involving all employees in our sustainability plans is critical to our ongoing success and this starts from the first day of employment. Induction programmes incorporate environmental training and this is continued with localised training, signage, company work instructions, risk assessments, works committee meetings and all company literature to keep everyone informed.

In the execution of its activities, Southerns Office Interiors Ltd are committed to do everything practical to meet the following environmental targets:

  1. Generally minimise the effect on the environment by the Company's activities.
  2. Minimise the amount of generated waste.
  3. Wherever possible recycle any generated waste.
  4. Dispose of safely through a recognised agent any waste that cannot be re-cycled.
  5. Endeavour to re-sale products only from sources with a positive Environmental policy.
  6. Re-sale only wood and wood products believed to originate from renewable and well managed forests.
  7. Encourage manufactures to develop low environment impact products.
  8. Maintain our fleet of vehicles in good order and to service them in line with the manufactures recommended standards.
  9. To use vehicles that only burn unleaded or diesel fuel.
  10. Strive at all times to improve where practical the Companies environmental performance.


Some of the ways in which you benefit are:

  • Contribution to replenishing the planets resources through re-planting programmes to provide a more sustainable resource.
  • A vigorous registered waste recycling process that returns furniture waste for recycling, thus avoiding the need to incinerate and hence reducing the overall contribution to global warming and the emissions of pollutants into our atmosphere.
  • The choice to purchase chrome products that are sourced from regulated and well established factories.
